OBP 0.5 Litre V2 Splitable Bulkhead Mount Baffled Oil Catch Tank
The V2 OBP Catch Tank is a newly designed product created by our team. It features a splitable design that allows you to easily empty or clean the catch tank as needed. Made from CNC-machined billet aluminium, the component is anodised black and includes a removable stainless steel baffled plate with 3mm holes to aid in cooling the oil. Additionally, it has an adjustable stainless steel mounting bracket for straightforward installation.
This catch tank also includes an ELESA Oil Breather Dip Stick as a standard feature.
What is an Oil Catch Tank?
An oil catch tank is a small, simple can that is installed in the vehicle’s crankcase ventilation circuit. Its main purpose is to trap oil vapours and other contaminants before they can re-enter the engine. These vapours are produced during combustion and are typically rerouted back through the intake system. By capturing them, the catch tank helps ensure that clean air enters the engine, preventing oil from dripping onto the racetrack.
The tank functions as a filter between the crankcase and the intake manifold, playing a vital role in protecting your engine. It is plumbed into the vehicle’s Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) System to capture excess crankcase vapours and residual mist, preventing them from returning to the intake track.
Using an oil catch tank allows your engine to run more efficiently by separating oil from the intake system. When there is oil in the system, it can lead to reduced fuel octane, an increased risk of engine knocking, poorer emissions, and higher oil consumption.
